Robert Courtney, a Kansas City pharmacist committed 20
felony counts of product tampering, drug adulteration, and drug misbranding. It
is right that he was arrested by the FBI for what he has done was against the
law and is morally wrong. The crimes he committed can be considered a fraud by
which there is a misrepresentation of the product he is selling especially when
he sells diluted Gemzar to different cancer patients. By morally wrong I mean
that he has step on the rights of the cancer patients to be cured. Since, no
further study or analysis was done if dilution of the product would not cause
any harm to patients it may be in one way or another cause ill effects or even
earlier death to the cancer patients. Robert Courtney may or may not be
responsible for the assumed death of the patient. He may be responsible because
the diluted drug he sold may have caused some reactions with the patient’s body
and triggered the cancer cells and caused his early death. On the other hand,
he may not be responsible because there is a possibility that the patient is
bound to die, he may be on his last days. He must have taken up the drug hoping
to stretch his remaining days. Maybe, Robert Courtney’s bad luck was just in
time and serve as payment for the crimes he has committed.
